Self-Management - You can help in the following ways:
- apply OTC antifungal medication (Lotrimin AF, Micatin, powder or lotion) until rash disappears
- continue using antifungal for up to 2 weeks after rash disappears to avoid recurrence
- dry area well after showering
- tinea cruris is caused by the same fungus that causes athlete's foot, so dry feet last
- wear loose fitting underwear and pants
- change underwear daily and wash in hot water
- do not share gym clothes or towels
