  • most sick infants are somewhat irritable and fussy
  • crying substitutes for what they cannot express verbally about not feeling good
  • if a baby's crying responds to comforting, it is probably not serious

    • fever 100.4 (rectal)or greater with change in normal behavior/sleep pattern
